Enter into the Dreaming Time

In the Northern Hemisphere, having moved past the Winter Solstice and Yule, we are now in deep winter. Capitalism would like you to believe that now is the time to reinvent yourself, to set goals and new years resolutions like signing up for a gym membership or starting a new lifestyle routine. And while that might work from some people, it personally doesn’t feel natural. First of all, I personally celebrate the new year in the Fall, which is closer to my birthday and the Witch’s new year following Samhain. That is when I set new intentions etc, and for me those energies feel correct. And while there is something to this collective agreement that we celebrate a “new year” on January 1, the energies can feel really forced and unnatural.

So if that is how you feel, than may I suggest instead that this is a time for dreaming. Instead of intention setting, let’s just let our imaginations wander in slower mornings during these darker and colder months. Let us dream into being our futures at a pace that feels better for our personal nervous systems and bodies. Let us just let our deep wishes bubble up now so that we may remember them and then nurture them into reality.

This year, being a Strength Year will be the year to go after these dreams, to face any fears that have held us back previously from achieving them and to courageously live in a heart-centered way. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it is well worth the efforts. This year will demand that we continuously recommit to the to the things we want and are important to us. This year we will all become heart warriors, defenders of the innocent and emphatically go after our biggest daydreams.

But for now, during the month of January I say lets just allow more time for dreaming, which means, get your rest, take naps, journal, meditate, get in touch with your big giant hearts and make a list of not resolutions but of what your deepest and truest desires and wishes are. Because this is the year they will come true, if you only have the courage to say them out loud.

You chose the Knight of Swords

While you may feel like hibernating, this is a time for fast and quick movement. Perhaps there is a task you need to finish before you can rest. Don’t worry, it will go fast if you don’t overthink it. The time to do is now, the time to think is later. Just act on pure instincts now and you’ll be through this task/quest/project before you know it.

You chose The Tower

Life is sometimes about rolling with the punches, and nothing teaches us that lesson more than The Tower. Remember, it’s just change, and the more you surrender to it, the easier your time will be, but if you fight it, it will fight you back. These are necessary changes to help you establish yourself into the next level, so just roll with it as much as you can. You don’t have to like it, but fighting it won’t be helpful either.

You chose The Devil

I know you think that right now should be all about “getting back to the daily grind” but it’s actually not. Sleep in, nap and keep dreaming. Bringing your deepest wishes into a reality is no easy task, especially when our brains are telling us we aren’t deserving of anything good or new and better. It’s not true, you are absolutely deserving of everything your heart desires (as long as it doesn’t cause harm to you or others). Your mantra for the next month is “I am worthy of my desires” - repeat it until you believe it.
